How to measure your bangle size

Something I'm asked often is how to measure for a bangle.

Everyone uses slightly different terms for different pieces of jewellery so just to clarify in this instance a bangle is a solid piece of metal that has to pass over your hand to be worn, unlike a bracelet that has a clasp or hinge to allow it to open.

So really the part of your body you need to measure for a bangle is your hand, not the Something I'm asked often is how to measure for a bangle.

So really the part of your body you need to measure for a bangle is your hand, not the wrist since its your hand the bangle needs to fit over. Too small and it won't go on, too big and it will fall off!

Some jewellers will give bangle sizes as the inner circumference of the bangle; thats the length all the way round the inside of the bangle, and others may give the size as the inner diameter of the bangle; thats the width.

How to measure:

  1. Find the widest part of your hand. This is at the base of your thumb when its folded over your palm.
  2. Measure using a tape measure, or if you don't have one use a piece of string that you can measure against a ruler after. Pull it quite tight.
  3. Now you have the circumference measurement. To find the diameter divide your measurement by 3.14.

For example, my hand is 20.5cm round its widest point and my 6.5cm wide bangle fits perfectly!

My bangles all come in a standard size of 6.5cm diameter / 20.5cm circumference. I call this size 'medium' as it seems to fit the majority. If you don't think this size is right for you I am always happy to make your bangle to your perfect size. Just get in touch to order.

Thanks,

Aimi
